AI Use Policy

How VestedVC uses AI tools internally — and the strict limits we keep around founder data.

Last updated: March 1, 2026

What we use AI for

  • • Market research summaries
  • • Call transcription (with consent)
  • • Internal knowledge search
  • • Coding assistance

What we DON'T use AI for

  • • Investment decisions
  • • Founder scoring/ranking
  • • Training external models on your data
  • • Replacing human judgment

1. Where we use AI internally

We use AI tools to make our operations more efficient. Examples:

• Drafting initial market analyses on public information about a sector

• Transcribing and summarizing partner meetings and founder calls (with consent)

• Searching across our internal knowledge base of past notes and learnings

• Editing and improving the clarity of our own written work (essays, memos)

• Coding assistance for internal tooling and dashboards

2. Where we do NOT use AI

AI is a tool, not a decision-maker. We do not use AI to:

• Make investment decisions — every yes/no comes from human partners

• Score, rank, or auto-reject founders algorithmically

• Generate fake testimonials, press releases, or marketing claims

• Train external AI models on founder pitch materials

• Replace human judgment in any high-stakes founder-facing decision

3. How we handle founder data with AI

When founders submit pitch materials, we may use AI internally to:

• Summarize long documents for partner discussions

• Generate research questions for due diligence

• Transcribe calls (with explicit founder consent)

We never:

• Feed founder materials into models that train on user input (we disable training where possible)

• Share founder data with AI providers for product improvement

• Use founder materials to create content (essays, marketing) without permission

4. AI tools we use

We are transparent about the providers we work with. Currently in use:

• OpenAI (GPT models) — with enterprise data agreements that exclude our data from training

• Anthropic (Claude) — same data exclusions

• Otter.ai or Read.ai — for transcription (with founder consent)

• Notion AI / GitHub Copilot — for internal docs and code

This list may change. We commit to choosing providers with strong data-handling commitments.

5. Human review is mandatory

Any AI-assisted output that affects a founder relationship — investment decisions, written feedback, public posts about portfolio companies — is reviewed by a human VestedVC team member before action.

We treat AI output as a draft, never a final product.

6. Your rights

As a founder pitching to or working with VestedVC, you can:

• Opt out of AI transcription of any call

• Request that your submitted materials not be processed by AI tools

• Ask which AI tools we used in a specific interaction

• Request deletion of AI-generated notes about your company

Email [email protected] for any of these requests.

7. This policy will evolve

AI technology — and the right way to use it — is changing rapidly. We will update this policy as our practices evolve.

Material changes will be reflected in the 'Last updated' date and communicated to active portfolio companies.

8. Connection to our broader AI principles

This operational policy sits alongside our public commitment to Responsible AI investing.

We hold ourselves to the same standards we expect of our portfolio: transparency, human oversight, and harm minimization.
